On Friday’s during Lent, there will be three alternative lunch choices, in addition to the main hot lunch. Students may select smoothie and a pretzel, Italian chicken wrap or fish.

The SSPT in the upper school is organizing a Winter Wonderland dance for 6-8 grade students on Friday, February 24 from 7-9:30 P.M.  DJ Bobby Trehey will provide the music.  The admission fee is $7 per person; students may bring one guest each. 

The SONO Library is hosting weekly meetings for girls in grades five through eight on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45.  The program, called Confidence Club, is a brave space for fun, confidence-boosting activities.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

There will be an all school meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 2:30 P.M.

The Community Health Center, Inc.’s Mobile Dentist Program will be at Side by Side to provide oral health services on March 2-3 in the art room.  Please see the attached flyers.  If your child already receives care at the CHC on Day Street, you do not need to do anything; the hygienist will schedule a cleaning for him/her sometime during the time the unit is at school.   If you would like your child to participate, please review the information on the attached flyer and scan the QR code to enroll your child in services.  You may also visit www.SBHC1.com/enroll or call 475-231-6978 for information.

There will be a dress down day for students and staff on Friday, March 3.

There will be two, ninety minute early release days in March for teacher conferences.  Thursday, March 16 and Thursday, March 23 students will dismiss at 2:10 P.M.  There are no after school activities on early release days. 

On Monday, March 27, there will be an early dismissal for professional development.  Students will dismiss at 1:40.  There are no after school activities on early release days.

The Kindergarten class will take a trip to New Pond Farm on Tuesday, January 24 to meet the sheep and
lambs, feel their insulating fleece and through hands on activities, learn the many steps involved in
turning fleece into yarn for knitting and weaving.


The next BOD meeting will be on Tuesday, January 24 at 5:15 P.M.


The Norwalk Art Space is offering a free eight-week art class, entitled Drawing and Thinking for students
ages 13-18. Classes meet on Thursday afternoons from 3:45-5:45 P.M. beginning on January 26.
Registration is required; spots are limited.


The South Norwalk branch library has a number of fun after school programs for elementary school
students. On Mondays at 4:00 P.M., there is Crazy 8’s Club, with “unique, high energy math activities
that appeal to kids of all math abilities.” Help kids learn to love numbers! Crafternoons, also on
Mondays at 4:00 P.M. is for kids ages 5-11. The SONO Dig Chess team meets on Tuesday afternoons
from 4:00-5:30. “Make friends, have fun and improve your skills in our free chess club for youth.”


Monday, January 30 is a two-hour early dismissal day. Students will dismiss at 1:40; there will be no
after school activities on that day.


There will be an all school meeting on Tuesday, January 31 at 2:30 P.M. Parents are welcome to attend.

On Monday, January 16, school will close in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. 

Monday, January 30 is a two-hour early dismissal day.  Students will dismiss at 1:40; there will be no after school activities on that day.  

Today we welcomed our fourth artist in residency, Will Parker, an award-winning musician and teaching artist, specializing in children’s music, songwriting, theatre, improvisation, and mental health.  Will also has a growing number of followers on Tik Tok.
