Parent Community Coordinator

The Side by Side Parent-Community Coordinator is responsible for:
- Communications with School Community:
- Keep parents and families up to date with all school related news via newsletters/emails/parent phone calls
- Assist with coverage for front-desk/main office during school hours
- Manage/update school website and social media accounts
- Draft and distribute monthly newsletter
- Draft and distribute flyers to parent community for Parent Forums, assemblies, fundraising appeals, etc.
- Informational summer mailings for school families
- Donation appeal letters to community at-large
- Publication and distribution of school directory
- School Fundraising
- Oversee classroom and schoolwide fundraising efforts
- Scholastic Book Fairs
- Assist with Board fundraisers (Gala, Wine-Tasting, etc.)
- Survey teachers/parents for classroom needs
- Facilitate mailings to prospective donors
- Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) Liaison
- Assist with organization, scheduling, and communication of the school PTO
- Attend PTO meeting and events (as needed)
- Organize/communicate/promote family and parent events for Side by Side

Specialized Learning/Paraprofessional-Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Instructional support for at-risk students
- Work under the direct supervision of School’s Student Services Administrator and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Work w/ individual or small groups to implement individually designed interventions and behavior protocols to assist students in mastering their goals
- Help set-up and enter data into electronic collection system
- Assist and facilitate student interaction with peers during classroom instruction, recess, co-curricular and non- instructional activities as written in student’s IEP, behavior or social emotional learning plans
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Registered Behavior Analysis Certification or Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Two (2) plus years successful experience under the direct documented clinical supervision of a BCBA and has completed or is willing to complete Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) competency and complete RBT examination requirements within a timely manner but not more than 1 school year after hire

School Maintenance/Custodian

Side by Side Charter School is a small, 235 student, independent public charter school located in South Norwalk, CT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans assigned areas of the building
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
- Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Does emergency cleaning as needed
- Inspects, maintains, and able to make minor repairs on the heating and cooling systems, boilers, and electrical, mechanical, and facility equipment
- Maintains and performs painting of walls as needed
- Changes air filters as needed
- Maintains and may repair custodial equipment (including equipment for grounds upkeep)
- Maintains and may repair school fixtures and furniture
- Assembles furniture
- Cares for the grounds, including watering, picking up trash, and removing ice and snow when necessary
- Sets up equipment for special school events or programs and cleans up afterwards
- Cleans up spills
- On call for emergencies or to open building
- May be required to work on Sundays, holidays, early morning, etc. for snow removal or other
- Stocks supply shelves and distributes supplies throughout the school.
- Assists school personnel with work requests and errands.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Ability to use or repair small and medium equipment and machinery.
- Ability to maintain property and inventory.
