Early Room/Extended Day

Family Resource Center Activities at Side by Side

Our Extended Day program is an extension of our regular school day for families needing after school care or extracurricular activities for their children. Our students are divided into age-appropriate groups and have a variety of activities from which to choose.  Art, yoga, and indoor/outdoor games are examples of activities offered. Extended Day meets from 3:30 – 5:30 pm Monday – Friday, and our Early Room program runs from 7:30 – 9:00 am Monday – Friday.  Students in our Early Room program can have breakfast, play quietly, read or work on homework.  Fees for both programs are on a sliding scale.

Students are expected to follow all school rules during Extended Day and Early Room, i.e. proper playground and classroom safety behavior. If an activity is held off-site, students will be escorted by Side by Side staff to the scheduled site and must follow safety rules. Improper behavior may result in being removed from the program.

The Family Resource Center at Side by Side also hosts free weekly Early Learning Groups for caregivers and their toddlers.  Groups are held each Wednesday at 10:00 am at the Norwalk YMCA, on South Main Street.  Certified parent educators are also available to meet with parents and their children (prenatal to 5 years old) to share developmental information and fun activities.  Please call our FRC Coordinator, Beatriz Abreu at 203-857-0306, ext. 146 for information on any of these programs.
