The application deadline for the Norwalk High Schools/Choice Programs, which includes the Center for Global Studies (CGS) and P-Tech, has been extended to Friday, January 21.

Monday, January 24 is a two hour (1:30 P.M.) early dismissal day for students. A professional development workshop is planned for all staff.

Each year we ask every SBS family to complete the Sibling Survey and Lottery Application forms, which are due no later than Monday, January 31. If you need a hard copy of this form, please call the main office. We determine how many seats are available for incoming students based on your response to this survey. Kindly remember to return a copy of the birth certificate for any siblings eligible for enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year.

Horizons at NCCS has extended its application deadline to January 14, 2022. Entry grades are K, 2, and 4 and there is a waitlist for other grades. Eligible families need to qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRPM) and priority is given to students who test below grade level. Monday, January 17, school will be closed to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 

Free after-school art classes will be available at Norwalk Art Space to select underserved high school students. Beginning on January 24th and running for 10 weeks, classes will meet once a week from 3:45 – 5:45 pm. All art classes are taught by Resident Artists under the direction of Educational Directors, Duvian Montoya, and Darcy Hicks.​​ 

Monday, January 24 is a two hour (1:30 P.M.) early dismissal day for students.  A professional development workshop is planned for all staff. Please note that there are no after school activities on early release days.

Tomorrow is an early dismissal (2pm) day for parent teacher conferences.  Due to the spike in Covid 19 cases in CT, all teacher conferences will be virtual.  Please remember to sign up for a conference time with your child’s teacher if you have not done so already.     

IMPORTANT—FLU VACCINE REMINDER FOR THE PARENTS OF PRESCHOOLERS
To All Preschool Parents:  All preschool students are required by The Ct State Department of Public Health to have the influenza (flu) vaccine by December 31. If your child is receiving the influenza vaccine for the first time, two doses separated by 28 days are required.  The flu vaccine has to be administered to your child between August 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.  If you have not already done so, please make an appointment for your child to receive this vaccine prior to December 31st. Proof of vaccination must be provided to the school nurse by January 1, 2021.

Parents please take the time to look through the lost and found bin in the lower school vestibule if you know your child has missing personal items, especially coats, hats and gloves.  The bin is overflowing at this time.  Please label all clothing so that we can more easily return items to their owners in a timely manner.

The Extended Day Program will bring two new presenters to currently enrolled participants and any others interested in registering.  On Tuesday, November 23 at 4:00 P.M. Tom Weber will lead the children in a musical discovery, as featured here https://youtu.be/QukPoFXyuCg.  On each Wednesday afternoon in December, stories will come to life in a children’s theatre program called “Acting Out.”  Please see the attached flyer for a program description.  New participants should submit extended day enrollment forms and advance payment for these enrichment activities to the main office.
