Side by Side is a regional public charter school located in the heart of downtown South Norwalk. As specified in our charter, our integrated student population reflects the diversity of our surrounding community. The 235 students of Side by Side, grades Pre-K through 8th, represent several surrounding Connecticut towns and cities.

Like all charter schools, Side by Side functions independently from any local or traditional public school system. At Side by Side, our innovative approaches toward education allow us to actively and equally involve parents, teachers, and students in our day-to-day operations.

Dear SBS Families,

Thank you to those who attended the Side by Side’s “Beers for Books” fundraiser on 11/9.  Thanks to your contributions we raised nearly $3500 that will go directly towards replenishing classroom libraries for all grades at Side by Side.

Thanks to our friends at First County Bank, all Side by Side students were able to start the year prepared for learning.  Nearly 120 backpacks filled with back to school supplies were donated to SBS students at the start of the school year.  Special thanks to Steve Ferguson, Jennifer DaSilva, Karen Kelly, Patricia Sweeny, the Board of Directors, the Leadership Team, and the Employees of First County Bank for your extremely generous donations.

I am excited to report that our technology integration/student/parent engagement initiative for the 2018-2019 school year continues to progress according to plan.  We will soon begin setting up two new Chromebook stations for both lower and upper school students.  Each of our buildings will have a new storage cart complete with one full class set (24) of Dell Chromebooks.  These devices will help support many new interactive learning opportunities for your children.

The Side by Side Winter concert is schedule for Thursday, December 20.  Please join us to help celebrate the holiday season and to support Ms. McFadden and all of the chorus and band students who have been working so hard.

Thank you,

Mr. Nittoly
